Butterfly

The Truth is like a butterfly

beautiful and elusive

We stumble after it

with clumsy, childlike steps

chasing it relentlessly

but never truly drawing one step closer

though we think we are about to capture it

time and time again

it always eludes us

and remains heartbreakingly out of reach

Until the day

we stop chasing it

not giving up

not walking away

not losing our desire to know

we simply see what we are doing

isn't working

and finally

we stop in our tracks

and just observe

and suddenly

to our complete surprise

we are amazed as it appears unannounced

it is suddenly right beside us

as though it had been there the entire time

and we see it's beauty

and wisdom

and things words cannot convey

It is a mystery to us no longer

and with eyes that are now able to see

we easily observe the rhythm of It's action

the intricate detail of patterns

the harmony of relation

the overwhelming simplicity of

It's completeness

and holiness

and oneness

we see the purpose

we see the love

and, giving ourselves to it fully,

we begin to follow

as it playfully guides our way

to higher and higher realms

where we finally realize

that we are

this butterfly

emerging from our cocoon

awakened

aware

and ready to fly

Just who is unASLEEP and what causes me to see as I do? How do I uncover the things I share with you? Most of you do not know that I enjoy this habit of meditative walks, but I do -- and very much so. Not only are they rejuvenating for both body and spirit, I have always found the most remarkable things revealed to me on these walks. To share this, I have begun to bring my camera along to assist in capturing the messages Truth spreads across my way, tirelessly performing for me until I 'get it', complete with a plethora of volunteer "actors", eager to help remind me of what I (and you) already know.

Perhaps the most important thing I have discovered on the meditative walks is that the Truth is literally everywhere, screaming at us from the top of its lungs, at all times. We don't have to search for it -- if we only know how to see, we see can it everywhere, full and complete in everything, down to the most minute detail, eagerly revealing all its secrets to any who can hear, to anyone who can see.
