The Sales & Service Tax (SST) exemption currently enjoyed by passenger vehicles since June 2020, will end as planned on June 2022. This full waiver covers locally assembled cars with a 50% waiver on imported cars. The program was aimed at helping the automotive sector through the pandemic. We discuss the effectiveness of this initiative and the current state of the industry.
