Welcome To The Real Estate Underground Show #34!
John is a long-time Hartford area landlord/investor. Real estate investing is in his blood as some of his earliest memories are working with family around properties fifty years ago. He bought his first property in 1990 and has worked with his brother for the last 30-plus years, building and managing the portfolio and running the day-to-day operations in Hartford’s historic west end.
He has served on multiple real estate related boards over the years, most recently volunteering as President of the CT Coalition of Property Owners (CCOPO). CCOPO tirelessly works to educate and inform State legislators, small investors, and the public about landlord/ tenant issues. We retain a lobbyist to keep abreast of pending legislation enabling us to alert local landlord groups and guide them in grass root efforts to communicate with elected officials on critical issues. (Recent issues CCOPO has worked on: Hiding of Summary process records, energy star ratings for apartments, elimination of lapse of time evictions, fair rent commissions, eliminating criminal records) We guide members through the art of preparing testimony for public hearings, provide a forum to network with other investors, and offer opportunities for members to expand their real estate investing knowledge.
In his free time, he coaches youth wrestling, curses at golf courses and skis with his family, and enjoys collecting vintage cameras and uranium glassware.
