Welcome to the Documenting My Journey series! As of today, I’ve recorded over 200 episodes, but this was my 6th episode out of the 200—and I wasn’t a great speaker when I first started. Even now, I’m still far from where I want to be as a speaker, but I’m making significant progress. I want to encourage you to simply press record. I’m intentionally not editing these episodes much so you can hear the mistakes and the raw footage. You’ll see how rough things can be at the start, but know that this experience is what makes you better over time. You just have to be committed to the process.
I recommend sticking with it for at least 2 years before deciding whether to continue or quit. With practice, I’ve improved, and so will you. Keep creating content—it’s key to building your brand and business.
As of today, I have guests reaching out to me because I’ve created so many episodes and have been around for over two years. Full disclosure: I still have to recruit guests, but now people are pitching themselves to be on my show.
The benefits of podcasting are significant: I have a track record, a footprint, and many ways to be found. I’m considered a thought leader because of the guests I interview, and the networking opportunities with my guests are invaluable. Some of the people I’ve interviewed wouldn’t have considered meeting with me if I didn’t have a podcast to interview them on.
Just hit record! 🚀
