With the passing of the NZIFF's little sibling The World Cinema showcase we now have a new format for April-May selections in The NZIFF 'Autumn Events'. Jacob and Doug sample some of the 'best' and 'worst' of the season's programme and wax appreciative on the inclusion of filmmaker mini-retrospectives, sadly missing from the last few festivals proper. Includes another round in their ongoing argument regarding the merits of social-realist melodrama!
