Asking for help is something a lot of us have been conditioned to think about as a last resort, and as something that may signal a lack of resourcefulness. As a result, many of us would prefer to work ourselves to exertion than deal with the mean things we would think about ourselves if we asked for help.

But what if asking for help actually demonstrates emotional intelligence and resourcefulness? And sets an example to others that a better way of approaching work is possible? Willing to be vulnerable and ask for help also fosters connection with others because they now 1) get to experience the joy of being helpful and 2) know that they can be open with you in the future if/when they need help themselves.

This week we talk all about asking for help at work, and how you can (and should) do it way before you reach a breaking point. And Maria shares one of her favorite mottos in life: "the only way to have your sh*t together, is by not having your sh*t together)."
