July’s narrative, By Association, emphasizes the dissonance between what organizations say publicly and their internal commitment to Black & Brown talent. Behind the curtain, they aren’t doing the work to recruit, grow, and retain underrepresented talent and there is a lack of accountability. Thankfully, the current movement has given us the leverage we need to push for sustainable, actionable change.
