By The Numbers: means something that is predictable,

or very systematic, one who follows standard procedure.

Last week we learned that our armor is what we know

about the Word of God, Salvation, Righteousness, &

Faith.

Our armor is to be used against 3 very specific things.

1. Verse 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you

may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

2. Verse 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of

God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil

day

3. Verse 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with

which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts

of the wicked one.

The wiles, the evil day, and the fiery darts all come from

our enemy...the devil. His battle plan is simple...John

10:10 to steal, kill, & destroy.

The devil’s tactics are one-fold...systematic...by the

numbers.

● The wiles, the evil day, the fiery darts all come

from the same origin.

● 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your

adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion,

seeking whom he may devour.

● John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the

desires of your father you want to do. He was a

murderer from the beginning, and does not stand

in the truth, because there is no truth in him.

When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own

resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

● Rev 12:7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael

and his angels fought with the dragon; and the

dragon and his angels fought,

8 but they did not

prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven

any longer.

9 So the great dragon was cast out, that

serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who

deceives the whole world; he was cast to the

earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

● Rom 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth

with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went

about doing good and healing all who were

oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

● Rev. 20 the devil is cast into the bottomless pit

and shut up with a seal so he can “deceive no

more”

● My conclusion is this: the wiles, the evil day, the

fiery darts are thoughts, ideas, & suggestions that

contradict the Word and ways of God.
