The era of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has come to an end. The legacy she left included a significant rise in crime, harmful business and school closures during the pandemic, and a mass exodus of residents moving out of the city. Her tenure included racial prejudice against reporters and blatant hypocrisies relating to COVID protocols that she imposed on her constituents but did not care to follow herself. Chicago residents didn’t purposefully vote for their city to become the mass murder capital of the USA, which is likely one of the many reasons she was not reelected. Although reversing the damage won’t be easy, let’s hope her successor can clean up the mess Lori Lightfoot created.
