About Byron Reese:
Byron Reese is a longtime serial entrepreneur who has started a half dozen companies over the past thirty years. He grew up on an East Texas farm, graduated from Rice University, married his college girlfriend, moved to the West Coast, and relocated from there in the 1990s to Austin, where he and his wife raised and homeschooled their four children. Along the way, he developed an interest in how technology has impacted the story of humanity. His first book was a defense of techno-optimism called Infinite Progress. He followed that with a philosophy book about AI and robots called The Fourth Age. In 2020, he and his co author Scott Hoffman released Wasted, a popular science book about the nature of waste. This was followed by Stories, Dice, and Rocks That Think, which explored how humans learned to see into the future and how that radically altered our trajectory as a species. This book, We are Agora, asks and tries to answer the question of whether humans are unknowingly cells in a larger organism he calls Agora. Today, Byron is CEO of an AI company he started and is working on his next book. He and his wife still reside in the Austin area.
