Washington Post Lead Film Critic and author talks about her impressions of Joker. 
"I didn't think it was phenomenal. I thought it was very very good. But if there's no doubt that it's well executed and I think you're absolutely right that it's a fascinating strategy on DC's part and more warner brothers parts just sort of zag a little bit. You know and Todd Phillips I mean we know him I think of him as the Hangover guy. You know bro-comedies. and kind of low ball humor but this one is incredibly gritty it very much taken its its inspiration from the New York movies of the nineteen seventies and early eighties. So it's very gritty grimy. There's no doubt that Phoenix's performance is just you know one for the ages."
