The Morning come of the third day that the Vigil's have been in Havnok. As most of the group leaves Alia and Barren behind for the funeral of Renerin, the town guard that lost his life, they overhear a street crier. The city of castles lesser ward where the poor live are increasingly being burdened by the shadowy plague and new quarantines and curfews being established. They hurry to the Barracks of the Crimson Cloaks Situated on the Bread wall and enter the service. They watch as the body is prepared for cremation, burned, and his sword is passed down to the dead man's son. Moss is able to talk with Brigadier Haws who agrees to help them search the undercity and offer some magical items to boot. Meanwhile, Barren makes a major discovery through his understanding of alchemy about the ooze made of two different sources. The Kruvust pestilence portion seems to be weakened and the shadow that is mixed with it seems to be bolstering it. The party comes back together and set off to find a Tsigani. On their way, they stop to identify the whip Alia has been holding onto for a long time. During Opal's ritual, Barren and Ren spar as a way to pass the time. They find the whip to be known as a "Racha' Ko Pulung" or King's Blood whip, which is powerful yet very dangerous at the same time. Finally pinky returns with news that the Tsigani has been seen recording the stories of the Plague and is in the Bread Wall district.
