it’s worth it – French expression

ça vaut le coup – it worth the blow. ça vaut le coup means ‘it’s worth it’. It’s often used with DE: ça vaut le coup de  + verb… means ‘it’s worth …’. And then you have the negative form ça (ne) vaut pas le coup, which means ‘it’s not worth it’, ‘it’s not worth …’.

* « Ça vaut pas le coup de faire réparer la voiture, elle est trop vieille. »

* “It’s not worth having the car repaired, it’s too old.”

Let’s listen to the same sentence in the subjunctive mode:

* « Je ne crois pas que ça vaille le coup de faire réparer la voiture, elle est trop vieille. »

* “I don’t think it’s not worth having the car repaired, it’s too old.”
