Deyanira Cerritos Hernandes is an Artist and a social Activist. Her work, known as Totomoxtle in Nahuatl which means "dried corn husks". These are generally know for being used in making tamales. She explores traditional ways of weaving the leaves and shaping them to make both useful items, as well as artful forms. While living in Mexico, Cerritos worked with organizations to bring assistance programs to the poorest communities both in rural and urban environments. We spend the hour talking
