I knew fresh air is good for those with Dementia, as well as exercise. However, it can be hard to get a 94 year old with Dementia to do somethings. This weekend, I manage to get my mother to sit with me on our front porch. To my surprised, we enjoyed the fresh air for 5 hours!!! Sundowning was almost non existent and she went to bed with no problem. Got to get more of that fresh air!

Every night we go through the same thing, I should say being ask the sam question, "are we going home?". Yes we are home and matter what I say, she has a meltdown of confusion, agitation, and more...

I am all moved back in with my mother. No one want to move back home, but in this case, it is necessary! Dementia is such a horrible disease, and yes, I hate it for her and for me...

It's like a runaway train, but you can't get off. She is stuck and I hope I can get her out of this, "are we going to your house"? Funny thing, she didn't come to my house thatvoften in the first place, but now, in her sundowning state, my soon to be sold home, is where she wants us to go.

It has now been 13 nights of sundowning. It is partly my fault. I didn't know me moving my things to my mother's house and the back and forth, was going to mess with her mind so badly. However, I am not sure how long it will take for her to detox from all of this.

I see now with this disease, I will be learning how to deal with it everyday! Each day therevis something different, or something you haven't experienced before or in a long time. Yes, you have to stay on top of it...if possible

Nobody wants to wake up each day, not knowing what or who you're waking up too. That is the world of Dementia. Sometimes you feel like your walking on egg shells, and other times you move in fear. You just have to wake up with a determined mind to not allow it to control you!

so much with Dementia is repetition. Just like the movie "Groundhog Day", you make get the same behavior the next day, or few days. It is frustrating for us caregivers of a love one, but they need us to help and keep them safe, each and every day!

It has been emotional of late for me. I am not sure if this disease is progressing or what. It just amazes me how one moment she knows who I am, then the next she doesn't, and it happens without any warning.

This roller-coaster ride has no ending. However, we do make stops, but not enough of them for me. I am doing my best to handle what comes, but I can say this, caregiving is not for the week!
