Today’s episode will focus on our guest speaker’s (Dr. Mayra Gaona) and explore her journey in the academia realm. Dr. Mayra Gaona obtained her B.S. in Psychology from Dominican University, an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology, and Ph.D. in School Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. Her research and clinical work focuses on trauma-informed schools, trauma professional development for school professionals, and the delivery of mental health interventions with newcomer immigrant youth. Lastly, for this episode our goal is to highlight Dr. Mayra’s profound academic journey and learn more about her resilience in pursuing higher education.
