Welcome back to Gotta Game For You — it’s our first episode of 2026, and we’re kicking off the year with a big look back at everything we played in 2025. From surprise favorites to unfinished adventures, this episode is all about our backlogs, our standout experiences, and our predictions for the year ahead.
Last year we dipped into a lot of games — more than we could ever fully complete — which led to some very real backlog reflections. Lina spent lots of time with Fields of Mistria, diving into its relationship-building systems, while also exploring games like Enigma Cases, Marvel Rivals, American Truck Simulator, Battlefield 6, Grounded 2. Meghan spent the year jumping into a wide mix of games including Baldur’s Gate 3, Expedition 33, Balatro, Date Everything, Keeper, Split Fiction, and Little Nightmares 3. Shelby explored everything from cozy to eerie with Dredge, Tiny Bookshop, Subnautica, Tavern Talk, Little Nightmares 3, and Escape Simulator 2.
We also break down our completed games from the year — a surprisingly long list featuring titles like Coffee Talk, Blue Prince, Venba, South of Midnight, Fields of Mistria, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, and many more.
Of course, a new year means new goals, so we’re setting our official 2026 game completion predictions. Meghan aims for 30, Shelby shoots for 40, and Lina is aiming for 60, a number that is somehow both alarming and entirely believable.
This episode also features a special developer conversation with Caroline Montano, a champion designer on 2XKO, discussing the creation of Caitlyn — how the character draws from both Arcane and League of Legends, the design philosophy behind her mechanics, and the challenge of making a character that feels right for fans across different genres.
To wrap things up, we share what we’re currently playing — from Overwatch to Old School RuneScape to Minecraft — and what’s next on our playlists. With so many incredible games on the horizon, this year already looks stacked — and we’re more than ready to dive in.
Follow @gottagameforyou for more gameplay discussions, dev interviews, and game-filled chaos — and let us know what YOU played last year.
