Cal Strickland is from a city called Preston in the U.K. He has three older brothers who used to race. Once he found out what they were doing he wanted in. So his mum and dad found the nearest BMX track and Cal began racing at the age of 6 and he hasn't stopped since. By his account he wasn't really good until he was about 14. Cal says between the ages of 16-20 he could have taken racing a bit more serious. He says he didn't train he just kind of rode his bike. 

At 16 he spent a short time on British Cycling's talent team. He says they took him to a couple of races in Holland. He eventually left because he was keen on the structure thing at the time. 

Call was national champ at the age of 16. He did one year in Junior men and jumped right into elite men. Crazy thing is he didn't clip in till he was 18. 

Over the years Cal has been world champ in the 25-29 years old category in Zolder, Belgium in 2019. He's currently Masters World Champion. He was the title this year in France. 

This year Cal crossed the Atlantic to race the Grands. In this episode he talks about his time at Grands, racing in the U.K. and how he got started in BMX.
