The top ten Elk Catridges.  This video on YouTube has gotten our attention on the pitch and strike when it comes to forcing the belief you must use big hard hitting magnums as acceptable minimum caliber for Elk.  There is so much wrong with those statements, mostly due to marketing, writers and the quest to have the biggest baddest caliber on the block.  Too many times, new shooters and hunters get exposed to the "experts" and buy all in on the concept that a poor shot with a big magnum will still kill the animal.  Not only it this not true, but the followers of this madness will all but ensure a bad shot as most new or young shooters cannot shoot them well.  They will not enjoy shooting it, they will not practice as much because of it.  And in a lot of cases will not go out and "waste" a lot of ammo training because of the $100 or more per box price. You can accomplish more than you think will small and sometimes really small calibers.  You will learn to shoot! You will practice because you will be having fun doing it.  And when the time comes "shot placement and bullet selection" will put the trophy on the wall. Don't fall for the "expert" writters opintions so easily.  Take it all with a grain of salt.  They are the car salesmen of the gun industry.  They are beholden to and subservient.  Don't believe me?  I challenge you to go through your last 20 magazines and find one critical/bad review of any rifle.  And don't think for a minute they are all expert marksmen or woodsmen at that too.  We are working on a series of YouTube videos to balance the scales and to give you another point of view from people who love to shoot first and take the importance of marksmanship and one's abilities to shoot certain calibers well as a choice that should not be taken lightly.
