Publisher's Summary:
Many are the exploits of Rome's emperors, but few were as infamous as Caligula. His reign was short, just fewer than four years. During that time he wallowed in depravity and lunacy. He came to power with the full backing of the people, but little did they know he would inspire their hatred soon into his reign. Caligula is a fascinating character because he was so complex. What caused his madness? Was he sick with a brain disease? Did he have high amounts of lead in his system, as some suggest? Or perhaps he was driven mad by life circumstances. No one will truly know what caused him to act the way he did.
His upbringing initially was quite good; he was on track to have a good, stable life. This would all change, however, as one by one members of his family died by the vicious hand of the emperor Tiberius. As Caligula grew up without family members who loved him, he slowly formed his character in this vacuum of affection - a character so maligned and hated that he would go down as one of the most evil people in history. In this volume of Interviews with History, we will cover, ever so briefly, the life of this tortured soul.

I wanted to know more about him
This was a short book and I would have liked a longer version. I was surprised to hear how he grew up so loved by his fathers people and after his fathers death, became such a benevolent ruler until the major illness which almost took his life turned him into a horribly mean and vindictive emperor. Has anyone researched into that time to discover what might have caused his life change? This book left me disappointed. It was more a book report than a real bio.
Insane Caligula
This was a fascistic book. People need to know just how crazy Caligula was. The man was truly unstable. I loved this book.
Disappointed!!!!!!!!!
This book is fascinating becuse it is Caligula, however there are zero footnotes, no references, and poor sentence structureâSo it is worthless as any reference of truthâ It is social media at best.
