Call Me Limbo

Call Me Putting Democracy into Action with Dr. Quintessa Hathaway

Listen Later

This week, Dai and David are joined by the incredible Dr. Quintessa Hathaway!  Dr. Hathaway is an educator, an activist, a public servant, the Founding Chancellor of The Hathaway Institute, an author, a former political candidate, a public policy champion, and founder of The Hathaway Political Action Committee.

Dai, David, and Dr. Hathaway talk about The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, The Freedom to Vote Act, their personal experiences with voting, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the 1965 Voting Rights Act, passing municipal resolutions and citizen-led referendums, opportunity districts, electoral representation and electoral politics, the Supreme Court, free and fair elections, voter suppression, hope, Minneapolis, changing hearts and minds, the American Dream, corporate greed, dark money vs. light money, and so much more.

This was such a soulful conversation, and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed talking to Dr. Hathaway!
