The promise of God to us is that we whom He calls Holy, He makes holy. That He will satisfy His own justice on our behalf, that He will make us into someone that is pleasing in His sight, someone who loves Him, and that He will take those that He has so transformed to be with Him forever. This is what holiness is… it is being set apart for the purpose and use of God for His glory. It is a single minded pursuit of Him, a dedication to His will and plan… to be Holy is to be HIS, and this is NOT something that we can ever accomplish on our own. It is not something that we can succeed in doing, in thinking, in obeying… It IS however something that God can and will do… and it is something that begins with Him simply CALLING us holy… like His sanctuary, we are CALLED holy. Peter reminds us that we are "… a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy." (1 Peter 2:9–10, NKJV) We are this because HE called us out of the darkness, we are this because HE CALLED us to be this, we are this because HE called us Holy…, because HE called us HIS!
