Give a Warm Welcome to Our New Chief Executive Officer
The Board of Directors at CALSTART, the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the clean transportation industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Berube as its new CEO, effective November 13, 2025. Berube succeeds John Boesel, who is retiring after an impressive three-decade tenure of driving innovation and growth within the organization, including 24 years as CEO. With an extensive background bridging the public and private sectors in the transportation and automotive spaces, as well as deep expertise in manufacturing, electrification, and battery technology, Berube is well-placed to lead CALSTART into its fourth decade of growth and impact.
"It is a privilege to join CALSTART at such a profoundly pivotal moment in our industry," Michael said about his new position. "Together with our members and partners, I will continue the work of building the clean transportation industry and expanding its vital impact."

Zenobē Helps Massachusetts School District Go Electric
Turnkey provider Zenobē recently helped Lawrence Public Schools deploy 25 new electric school buses and 10 minibuses, along with the necessary charging infrastructure, to boost the district's commitment to reduced emissions and cleaner air for students. Working with NRT Bus, the fleet is based in Methuen, Massachusetts, and is already in service for the 2025 school year. The charging site was completed last summer and is served by National Grid and Liberty Utilities.
"To give students a comfortable, quieter daily bus ride while benefiting public health, the environment and Lawrence taxpayers is a big win for our entire community," said Lawrence Public Schools Superintendent Ralph Carrero. "This initiative is the power of public-private partnership at its best."
The Bolt is Back
Driven by customer feedback, General Motors has announced the return of the Chevrolet Bolt for the 2027 model year, reviving the popular vehicle with a new model that aims to deliver an affordable, technologically advanced American EV. With a starting MSRP of $29,990, the new Bolt is set to offer the most range in an EV under $30k with a 255-mile estimate at full charge. This will be Chevrolet's first vehicle with a native NACS charging port and supports DC public fast charging up to 150 kW, charging more than 2.5x faster than its predecessor. Additionally, the Bolt is Vehicle-to-Home bidirectionally capable, allowing it to power a properly equipped home during an outage when paired with a GM Energy Home System. The 2027 Bolt will be assembled at GM's plant in Kansas City and will start shipping to customers and dealers early next year.
WattEV Sets Energy Use Record
While recent headlines may question the future of electric trucking, WattEV, a leading developer of electric truck charging depots, is breaking zero-emission freight traffic records. For the past two months at its busiest charging depot in San Bernardino, Calif., WattEV has delivered nearly 700,000 kWh of energy monthly, enough for the electric trucks using the station to travel 34,000 miles per day. The San Bernardino depot, located adjacent to the busy Interstate 215, currently features 12 dual-cord 360 kW chargers capable of charging 24 trucks simultaneously. The site was designed with the capacity to expand as demand grows. WattEV is expanding the station with 36 more cords, six of which support MCS charging at 1.2 MW.
To accelerate the nation's transition to zero-emission truck transport, WattEV offers its own transport service for shippers with an innovative electric Truck-as-a-Service (TaaS) model, which provides fleets and individual truckers with access to Class 8 battery-electric trucks, reliable maintenance support, insurance and charging across WattEV's entire network, all at a total cost of operation on par with diesel trucks.
NYTVIP Update
The New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program (NYTVIP) recently received $53 million in new funding to provide voucher discounts to commercial and municipal fleet owners and operators across New York State that purchase or lease medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission battery electric (BEV) or hydrogen fuel cell electric (FCEV) vehicles and equipment.
All OEMs are required to apply for vehicle eligibility designation to enable fleets to receive NYTVIP vouchers for those vehicles. This is a valuable opportunity to apply to have your vehicles included in the program's Eligibility List.
