Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Plain by comparing two people: one who builds upon a firm foundation, and another who does not. Which one are you?

Every Christian is ordained for a purpose: to bear fruit which glorifies God. In this section of the ‘Sermon on the Plain,’ Jesus addresses what it looks like—and means—to have GOOD or BAD fruit coming forth in our lives.

Jesus teaches a profound spiritual truth: The Law of Sowing & Reaping. It’s closely connected to the Golden Rule of Verse 31: “Just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.”

With the Beatitudes, Jesus DEFINED the character of the Christian. As we move deeper into the sermon this morning, Jesus DEMONSTRATES what this character will look like in action—and we discover we are called to radical love!

Jesus begins His earthly teaching ministry addressing who we should BE, not what we should DO—because ATTITUDE leads to ACTION. A classic passage, these ‘Be—atitudes’ are truly transformative in the life of the Christian!
