David confesses, “I have sinned against the LORD,” and Nathan immediately responds, “The LORD also hath put away thy sin." There are consequences. There is sorrow. There is discipline. There are things David cannot undo. But there is also forgiveness, restoration, worship, and eventually the birth of Solomon.

He was our substitutionary representative; Christ is the king of the church where he reins and rules in righteousness; our Savior is our husband, and we are his bride. As the body of Christ we are each needed and must stay connected to our head in order to operate in a useful and harmonious way.

Pastor J. S. Melvin takes us to 2 Samuel 8, where David's victories over Israel's surrounding enemies reveal that the true source of every triumph is God's faithfulness, not human strength.
