 Girls. Ghosts. Grief. Avalon Fast’s CAMP is an out-of-body experience that brings you about as close as you can get to witchcraft and otherworldly spirits. After accidentally causing two fatal accidents, Emily spends the summer as a counsellor at a Christian grief camp in the woods in order to process her guilt. The film takes a sharp turn towards the surreal as she grows unexpectedly close with the other counsellors, participating in eccentric rituals which begin to unearth the roots of her trauma and push her towards catharsis, but not without consequence. Camp captures the raw emotions of guilt to create an ethereal and uncanny experience of growing up despite feeling frozen in time. Grief can’t nearly be solved in one summer, but it can begin to heal.
