Happy Talk

Can looking for smaller joys impact my happiness? With Sophie Cliff

Listen Later

Sophie Cliff, aka the Joyful Coach, tells her story of how she was constantly outsourcing her happiness to the future, building her career and being a bystander in her own life. After experiencing a tragedy, she realised the Instagram posts were true – you only live once. She shares her story of how connecting to the daily joys in life supported her to come back to the present, but also continue to become an incredibly successful coach and author.

Sophie brings a perfect blend of personal experience with practical research to show us how coming back to the things that bring you joy can create incredible impact to your life.

This conversation was a joy in itself.

Sophie discusses:

  • Why so many people have to have a tragic event to force them to stop from a point of desperation before they realise they have to change
  • How joy is the precursor to your success – and to stop delaying it to another day
  • There is no set view for what brings joy for everyone – it's a concept individual to everyone
  • You don't need a plan for your life before you start to prioritise joy
  • How not to let perfectionism get in the way of you finding joy, have a go and experiment
  • The big milestone moments are such a small part of your life, it's the stuff we do every day that matters
  • You don't have to make huge changes in your life, in fact, sometimes you don't have to make any at all
  • Even in the darkest times of your life, joy is available
