Today’s episode touches on a sensitive topic.
I’m going to say the G word.
God.
If that word feels charged for you, I get it. There’s nothing you need to believe. Nothing needs to change. You get to have your own relationship with God, or no relationship at all.
When I say “God” here, I’m not talking about religion. I’m talking about relationship.
And I’m not sharing this as an abstract idea.
In this episode, I share two prayers that have been monumental in my life. Especially my creative life.
You might not know this, but I’m naturally scattered. I’m easily distracted. I can get pulled by the noise, the chaos, the fear, the internet, the inbox, the world.
And these super-short and simple prayers have kept me steady.
They’ve helped me create and share my writing and creative projects at a very high level, with more focus, alignment, courage, consistency, and profit.
If you’re craving that kind of support, you’re going to enjoy this episode.
In This Episode:
Part 1: Story + Lesson
Why I refuse to let a few people’s misuse of “God” take this powerful ally away from me.
Part 2: Guided Meditation
A practice to quiet the noise and feel supported as you move toward Future You.
Part 3: Writing Exercise
A simple way to integrate this week’s episode and take your next aligned step.
My Go-To Prayers
Prayer 1: (Dear Universe)
This is a 30 second pray I use when I feel scattered, and I need to come back to my path. It’s super simple and short, but incredibly powerful.
Dear Universe, Please help me share more of my gifts with the world in a way that is healthy, joyful, and profitable. I am open, willing, and ready to receive.
Prayer 2 (Dear God)
This one is for courage. For truth. For when I’m tempted to hide, perform, or play small.
Dear God, Please use me as a vessel for your divine expression. Use me as an instrument of your love. Give me the strength to go into the depths of my heart and find my truth, and the courage to speak my truth in my own authentic voice. Whatever happens from there, I let go and let God.
Writing Exercise: Your Guard Rails
Write this at the top of a fresh page:
“Today, I’m choosing focus.”
Then write three short sections:
1) The Noise
* What’s the loudest thing in my mind right now?
* What keeps stealing my attention when I sit down to create?
* What truth am I avoiding because it would ask more of me?
2) Future You
* If Future Me watched my day today, what would they ask me to do first?
* What would Future Me stop feeding (scrolling, perfectionism, people-pleasing, doubt)?
* What would Future Me do next, even if it’s imperfect?
3) Your Guard Rails
Write out the following and fill in the blanks.
Dear Universe…
* Please help me share more of my gifts with the world in a way that is healthy, joyful, and profitable by ____________.
* Help me stay focused today by ____________.
* Help me take one aligned step by ____________.
Dear God…
* Please give me the courage to speak my truth in my own authentic voice about ____________.
* Help me stop hiding behind ____________.
* Help me say the thing I’ve been scared to say: ____________.

If you take anything from this episode, let it be this:
When everything feels loud and chaotic, come back to relationships that can help you anchor and ground. Come back to support, whatever that means to you. If “Universe” or “God” aren’t your jam, try walks in nature, meditation, or even reaching out to you a dear friend.
All of us need support. No one does this alone. And I think that’s a beautiful thing.
Big love,
D
