DISCUSSION QUESTIONS //

1. Pastor Larry stated that the Pharisees and the Sadducees were bitter enemies and they're united by a common threat. Why do you think Jesus was considered a common threat and what do you think was their plan? (See. Matthew 12:9-14) What are some similar instances you have seen with groups today?
2. Read Matthew 16:1. What was their motivation in coming to Jesus (See. 1 Cor. 1:22)? Do you understand who you are in Christ? Do you look for signs, or do you take His precepts as your sign and roadmap for life?
3. Since Jesus could do a sign at any time, why didn’t He? (See. Matthew 16:2-4)
4. Pastor Larry stated in his message that they could not see Jesus even though He was standing right in front of them because they had made their mind up already. How does the over-concern with appearances or trivial matters get in the way of seeking Truth?
5. Read Matthew 16:5-12. Why would the Disciples once again misunderstand Jesus? Place yourself in their mindsets and culture; would you misunderstand too? Why, or why not? How would you feel if Jesus called you, you of little faith? What would you do?
