Host Justin Barton interviews Quinlin Haglund, an endurance athlete and organist from Quaker Hill, Connecticut, about serving in the Adriatic North Mission (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro) for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from June 2023 to June 2025. Quinlin describes learning Slovene in the MTC, serving his first year in Slovenia (including a branch he attended as a child), then transferring to Zagreb, Croatia, to finish his mission while learning Croatian. He shares emotional struggles with comparison and feelings of failure, and how returning to personal prayer, journaling, and keeping “a song in your heart” (especially “Come, Come Ye Saints”) helped him rely on the Lord. He discusses lessons on agency, the Serenity Prayer, mission themes of obedience guided by the Spirit, Omni 1:26 and consecration, and how the Lord used his media and music skills to produce mission content and organize concerts featuring Alex Sharpe from Celtic Woman.
