This interview is part of the Canadian Coalition to Counter COVID19 Digital Disinformation project. In this episode, we chat with Fenwick McKelvey, Scott DeJong, Elsa Donovan, and Saskia Kowalchuk from the Algorithmic Media Observatory. Much of the work of the observatory focuses on understanding the consequences of algorithms and the digitization of our society. We discuss their recent work studying memes as a way of analyzing political culture in Canada through the 2019 federal election and the COVID19 pandemic.
