Chapter 1:
Bill C-46 allows for the use of roadside drug testing devices to test for the presence of drugs, including cannabis, during routine traffic stops in Canada. Justice Minister Jody Wilson Raybould has given a 30 day notice of ministerial order to approve a device, called the Draeger DrugTest 5000 for use in Canada.
Chapter 2:
The US-Canada trade war is really starting to bite consumers. Last week, the country’s biggest grocer Loblaws warned Canadians they’re about to feel the pinch with prices set to rise later in the year as retaliatory tariffs on US imports flow on. Now, international food giants are weighing up whether to pass the costs of a rise in the price of canned goods on to consumers. All of the goods are made with aluminium, which Trump has slapped a tariff on. So how bad can we expect this to get?
Chapter 3:
Day two of the trial of ex-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort heard of lavish spending on suits, cars and homes. But the kicker? Witnesses testified Manafort paid for it all using wire transfers from foreign bank accounts. Washington Post reporter Justin Jouvenal is covering the trial from Virginia and spoke to producer Pippa Reed.
Chapter 4:
-The former tenant of the townhouse-turned-hostel in North Vancouver has spoken out about what it was like living there. Shaun says he signed a three month lease in January 2017, but only stayed two months, because conditions were so bad. Owner Emily Yu turned her home into an Airbnb with room for 15 people, much to the chagrin of the strata complex where her home is located. Yu remains defiant, saying she can do what she wants in her home. Now, there’s also an investigation into Yu’s finance ‘services’... Do Yu’s actions expose how weak the system is?
