What are you going to do when it comes time to have to file your taxes and you can’t pay? Do you just put the taxes in the drawer and say, “Oops, if the IRS doesn’t know, it won’t hurt them.” Personally, I think the answer is no. File your taxes on time. One reason is the time clock starts. That means the IRS will only have 10 years to collect whatever is collectible out on n that return. Two, it is better to go ahead and get ahead start making payments even if they’re partial payments than just let it ride. Next thing you know, liens, levees, and seizures are on the horizon.
