Well Legacy had a good weekend so it’s clear the scourge of delver is finally defeated! Or like we have always said you can’t make judgments based off of one tournament. That being said neither Jake or Matt will look a gift horse in the mouth and have a great time going into a really spicy top 8. Modern appears to be more of the same, and while that is neither good or bad, it is modern. To wrap up this week Matt and Jake take their first look at the pioneer metagame and see what's going on in the new and wacky world of pioneer. Matt and Jake take one last look at legacy… for a little while. Since the legacy format is just terrible, has been for months, and wotc shows no interest in fixing it we are going to step away for a bit. So with the Announcement of the Pro tour being pioneer and the hosts love for EDH we will be diversifying our content while occasionally checking in on legacy. The hosts did look at the Modern 30k from SCG Dallas with over 900 participants and feel confident saying that the Lurrus ban almost certainly did not improve modern, and may have made it worse.

Wow that legacy showcase is about as bad as it gets… but even though there are only 4 unique decks in the top 8 the guys soldier on. Modern is not as stale, but it is also a pretty ugly looking top 8. The thing is… no one cares cause its all about pioneer now that we had the announcement of the Pro Tour returning and the first pro tour being limited and pioneer. So now that WOTC has literally forced you to care about pioneer, it's time to start looking into this mysterious and previously thought dead format.

Legacy looks pretty good this week as far as deck diversity, as long as you don't mind 69% of decks having force of will. The Modern Super Qualifier looks almost exactly like  what modern has looked like despite the Lurrus ban, which isn't a bad thing cause Modern still looks pretty diverse.
