This weekend we had a Legacy showcase to discuss with a pretty sweet looking top 10. Matt and Jake drool over modern like every week and then wrap up by giving our opinions on the Alchemy announcement. Honestly this was close to something that could work, but sadly still pretty far from what could be called a good implementation.

Matt and Jake run through the legacy and modern meta, contemplate the state of legacy, and give their thoughts on some of the decisions around secret lairs and the new Unfinity set. Spoiler alert: the vintage, legacy, and EDH communities got some frankly insulting news from Maro in regards to the legality of Unfinity. TLDR, Maro has announced that this un-set will not have silver borders and approx. half of the cards will be legal in legacy, vintage, and EDH. Matt and Jake have ALOT of strong opinions about this decision, and none of them are necessarily good.

Matt and Jake partner up with Derric from the family gathering podcast to tackle the Three legacy events of Eternal Weekend. Honestly the Friday event was what we all expected, but Saturday and Sunday did not look too bad. Tag along as the host pop into every deck they thought looked interesting, which was a lot of them, and wrap up by giving their opinions on the state of legacy and whether this event will warrant the ban the community desperately wants. Both Modern and Legacy have their respectively largest tournaments of the year on the same weekend! Modern has the Channel Fireball paper event in Las vegas and Eternal weekend online for Legacy are both happening this weekend. While the legacy meta is still pretty… bad, there are definitely some really cool decks in the results from the sunday challenge. Modern also had some pretty cool lists show up including a double feature win by Goblin Charbelcher. To wrap up the episode Matt and Jake talk about their opinions on the use of proxies in both casual play and tournament play.

Holy cow that's an ugly Legacy PTQ. Even the Modern Sunday challenge doesn't look good on paper. At least WOTC is reprinting the Walking Dead cards. Stay till the end for tips on taking that pile of cards and turning it into a lightly tuned EDH deck.
