"And this was a performance that just revitalized Cash's career and made some musical history. His fascination with Folsom prison began in 1953 when he was in the Air Force. He saw a documentary inside the walls of Folsom Prison, and he wrote Folsom Prison Blues, which became his second single on Sun Records. The song's popularity among inmates led to numerous requests for Cash to perform at prisons, and he did, starting with Huntsville State Prison in 1957."
