This week, I would like to explore career association websites.

Career associations can help people explore a career and find professional opportunities in that career field. Career associations are people in a particular career who gather to learn and support each other.

A career association may have a website.

I like to focus on career-association websites.

Some things a career association website can do are:

• Give content information about that profession
• (and one side advantage is that this information is likely to be up to date)
• Might find information to help you with informational interviews.
• (An informational interview where you talk to a person in that profession to learn more about that profession)
• May help you find opportunities in that profession.
• You may find job positions (for example) advertised on a career association web site–giving the opportunities in that career.
• May find information on how competitive a career.

If you go to the American Marketing Association career website at www.ama.org

Then click the link “Job Boards” (link towards the top part of the computer screen if you have a laptop computer screen)

You have a menu of options that appears; you can then select the choice that says “Marketing Job Board. “

You can then see jobs in the marketing profession.

You can have a “Job Board Snapshot” where you can see the number of employers and job seekers.

You may find a wide variety of information on a career association website. You may find your next opportunity on a career association website.
