Carl Goldstein has hosted the "Fire On The Mountain" program featuring Bluegrass, Country and Old Time music on WVUD for over forty-five years. He was also one of the founders of the Brandywine Friends Of Old Time Music, a non-profit group producing local concerts throughout the year in addition to the annual Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival. In this episode he discusses producing the first Festival in conjunction with Bill Monroe and Ralph Stanley, who headlined the show along with Jim & Jesse and Lester Flatt's group featuring 13-year-old Marty Stuart. Carl reminisces about other bluegrass/country stars appearing over the years, including Alison Krauss, Ricky Scaggs and Patty Loveless. He also recalls growing up in Chester, Pennsylvania and seeing Bill Haley perform at a local radio station with his backing band The Saddlemen, years before they became The Comets and made rock & roll history. He also befriended old time music icons Ola Belle Reed and Alex Campbell at legendary Sunset Park near West Grove, Pennsylvania along with local stars Bob Paisley and Ted Lundy.
