Mildred Wirt Benson, more commonly known by pseudonym Carolyn Keene, is the original author of the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories series.  She was the first student to earn master’s degree in journalism from the University of Iowa & became a tenacious court reporter & avid adventurer.  At the age of 21, she became a ghostwriter for the Stratemeyer Syndicate & quickly began churning out the greatest girl detective stories known.  

Nancy Drew’s legacy has continued beyond Mildred’s original books & extends into books, television shows, movies, comic book series, computer games, & more.  The famed girl detective has inspired countless history-makers, including Sonia Sotomayor, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Oprah, Barbara Streisand, & the hosts of this podcast.
