A chemistry teacher who concocts stories, a runner who races against herself and a selfpublished author who writes for peace! Caron Asgarali is an author, an inspirational speaker, book developer, educator and a survivor of gun violence. When not behind the desk, Caron advocates for peace as the founder of Project RARE, a registered not-for-profit organization.
Caron wrote her memoir From Lion to Lamb (now being retitled Bulletproofed Faith) and a follow-up book (Bounce Back Better) after being shot during an attempted robbery in 2013. In 2020 she conceptualized and launched the first book in an anthological inspirational series of true stories from everyday heroes – the Hot Cocoa on a Rainy Day Series. The third book will be launched later in 2024. She was editorial assistant for Mr Winston Dookeran’s most recent professional publication.
She worked with Parasram Ramoutar, a diaspora journalist, to develop, edit and publish his autobiography and published several books for other authors under the Project RARE Publications divisions. Her speaking engagements include graduation speeches at secondary and primary schools in Trinidad, speaking at meetings for groups like the Full Gospel Businessmen International, local Rotary Clubs in South Trinidad, Maritime Insurance, Christian Chamber of Commerce (Oveido, Florida) and many others. She was one of twenty BBC Outlook Inspirations in 2018 for the strength and resilience displayed in redefining herself after being shot.
In 2019, she received a Hero’s Award from an international company and in 2024 she was the recipient of a LOANI’s Miracle Woman Award. In 2021 she launched a Writing to Heal online programme that continues until today. The programme’s purpose is to help people survive trauma and build a legacy of resilience through writing, in alignment with her mission of transforming hurt into hope.
