Carrboro: Inclusive Engagement, Affordable Housing and A Walkable Weaver Street Event

Listen Later

Carrboro Mayor Barbara Foushee speaks with 97.9 The Hill News Director Brighton McConnell on Friday, April 4. She discusses her town being a finalist for the 2025 All-America City Award based on the local government’s engagement efforts with residents and her personal investment in making sure people’s voices are heard. That includes holding events like this past week’s town hall with staff, which the mayor described as productive for all parties. She also recaps the council’s meeting from this week, featuring resolutions rededicating the town to preventing pedestrian-involved collisions, and last week’s work session on affordable housing. Finally, Foushee details an upcoming event on Sunday that will shut down Weaver Street and be a party to kick off the spring event season!

Conversations With the Mayors is an ongoing series on “News on the Hill” where host Andrew Stuckey visits with the local government leaders who help shape our communities in Chapel Hill and the surrounding area. Each Tuesday he visits with Hillsborough Mayor Mark Bell; Wednesdays feature a conversation with Chair of the Orange County Commissioners Jamezetta Bedford; Thursdays feature Chapel Hill Mayor Jess Anderson, and Fridays include a conversation with Carrboro Mayor Barbara Foushee. You can listen to previous “Conversations With the Mayors” here.
