In 1975, New York City was on the brink of financial disaster. In the previous years the city officials had borrowed more money from banks to prop up its flailing local government until, finally, the banks decided that it was enough. This decision would have long-reaching repercussions that seem to have led directly to how we see the world today. The final decision to take control of a government and effectively replace publicly elected politicians with bankers would fundamentally shape the future of the modern world. Some of the world's greatest enemies like Muammar Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein, Al Qaida were a direct result of carefully crafted narratives by western governments in order to maintain the status quo. The youth counter culture who thought they were rebelling and making a statement by withdrawing from public and political action played directly into the hands of the governments who were now just managers. How did one city's fall to bankers produce the carefully maintained illusion of a free world? Were the revolutions that shook the Middle East in recent years and the Occupy Wall Street movement the prototypes for the next stage of our social evolution? This case file the Theorists turn up the house lights and take a peek behind the curtain of modern society to find out what's real and unreal in...HyperNormalization
