Cassie Wertman is a former UT track star who is now a frontline worker who works in the Trauma unit. In this episode we discuss her family, living on a farm and how her parents encouraged her to be mentally tough to stay UT even when she was home sick! She grew up in small town that was very conservative and closed minded. Traveling the world for track helped her develop an open mind. One thing we discussed was her reaction to Black Lives Matter and being engaged to a black man and the challenges that uprise against their relationship. Cassie story is filled with passion, encouragement and the will to never give up.
