Transport Evolved was invited by CATL to attend the reveal of the Shenxing Pro battery at IAA Mobility 2025. CATL reimbursed our travel, meals, and accommodation to enable us to bring you this first-person report. YouTube requires this video be marked as "sponsored" due to our reimbursement arrangement. However, while a representative from CATL was allowed to view the video prior to publishing to verify quoted figures, Transport Evolved retained full editorial and final production control.
Following our coverage of CATL’s IAA 2025 announcement of the Shenxing Pro for Europe, we had a chance to chat with other CATL engineers on the company’s stand before exploring the rest of IAA. Today, we’re diving into a dual-battery chemistry system designed to give automakers—and their customers—the freedom to mix and match battery chemistries in a single EV, reducing overall cost without compromising performance, capabilities, or lifespan. While CATL isn’t the only company working on this tech, it’s the first time we’ve been able to see one up close—so of course, we had to ask plenty of questions.
