Challenging? Very.  But encouraging? Absolutely!  God is Sovereign, and His way is best. 

Will you allow the Holy Spirit to be your eyes and ears…? 

Will you drop your Laodicea for God’s Lydia?

As we read in today's passage from Acts 15, there was "no little dissension" in the Church in Antioch and Jerusalem about what was, and was not necessary to be saved, to be a Christian.  Mike walked us through the passage, reminding us that we are not saved by "Jesus plus" anything, but that our salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone.  He also pointed out that we need each other to help us understand aright and to live for God.

In Acts 10v1-11v18, Mike walked through a key moment on the history of Christianity.  Until this point, the Church was Jewish; an offshoot of Judaism.  But God came to an Italian Centurion named Cornelius in a vision. He came to Peter in a vision. And He came as the Holy Spirit to the Cornelius’ household. And things changed.  Christianity is not just for the Jews.  Because God, the son, Jesus came to earth, ministered, was crucified and resurrected, the whole world is welcome.   
God came.   

“Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.” (Acts 11:18 ESV)

Are you convinced? 

Are you convinced that you need Him in your sickness, that you want Him in your sickness and that He can heal you?  

Are you convinced that His is with you and having handed you authority, through you is ready move in people’s lives as if He was here on earth himself?  Will you raise people? 

Are you convinced that we could be such a Church, that as a Church we could be so unflinchingly convinced of the power of Christ that we would put aside culture at the risk of ridicule and shame, waiting to see Him move?  Can we rise as a church? Can we raise people as a church?
