Do you remember when you got your very first driving lesson? You climbed in the front seat and that instructor climbed in beside you. At first, they walked you through the basics - helping you learn the car - know when to brake, when to turn, and how to stay on the road. Eventually though, and much direction later, that instructor handed you the keys. That was mentorship. That’s what Barnabas did with Paul. He saw something in Paul that others couldn’t see yet. He welcomed him, stood beside him, helped him grow, and then eventually stepped back so that Paul could lead. That’s what a good mentor does. They don’t try to keep you dependent on them. They help you become everything that God has called you to be. The goal isn’t to make people followers of us, but to help them become faithful followers of Jesus. Good friends are like guardrails on a mountain road. They don’t drive the car for us, but they keep us from going somewhere dangerous.

In 2 Samuel 12, Nathan was that kind of friend to David. He saw danger in David’s life and had the courage to confront him. Nathan didn’t ignore the problem or tell David what he wanted to hear. He delivered the truth, even when it was difficult. Yet Nathan’s goal wasn’t to destroy David - it was to lead him toward confession, healing, and restoration.

Real friends do more than celebrate us when things are going well. They love us enough to warn us when we’re heading the wrong direction. A true friend doesn’t just protect your feelings; they help protect your soul. Join us this week as we continue our Friendship series by looking at Guardianship.

Real friendship is more than having someone to hang out with. It’s built on something deeper: covenant, commitment, and character. In 1 Samuel, Jonathan and David show us what godly friendship looks like. Their relationship was built on a shared heart and a willingness to honor one another, even when it cost them something.

But true friendship is also proven when life gets difficult. A real friend won’t simply tell you what you want to hear. They’ll have the courage to confront sin, stand beside you, and remain faithful when things get messy.

And the best friendships leave a legacy. Jonathan’s faithfulness to David eventually blessed his own family. The right friends don’t just make our lives better-they help us become better people and point us closer to Christ.

None of us were created to sail through life alone and this week, as we look at Genesis 2, we will see that before Adam ever knew he needed companionship, God knew. That’s where friendship begins; with God’s provision.

Christ created us for relationships that give us purpose. We all need people who will get in the boat with us, weather the storms with us, and point us back to the Savior as we seek to be that in return.

This Sunday, we are excited to be kicking off our new series called The Friend Ship. It's about far more than having friends, it's about discovering God’s purpose together. We will see you Sunday!

This Sunday, we are thrilled to be celebrating 14 years of God’s blessings right here at The Church at Chelsea Westover! What a joy it is to look back and see all that God has done, as we also look ahead with excitement for all He is still going to do.

We’re honored to welcome our special guest, Pastor Emeritus Danny Lovett, as we gather together for this special celebration. His ministry and faithful service have been such a meaningful part of our church family.

This will be more than just an anniversary; It will be a day to celebrate God’s goodness, His faithfulness, and the family He has brought together here. We’re excited for what God is doing in our church and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

What does a tiny branch have to do with your everyday spiritual life? This Sunday, we’re diving into John 15:1–11 for a message titled "I Am the True Vine."

We’ll explore how grapevines actually work and look at the first-century context behind Jesus’ words. Together, we’ll see why God lifts us up when we're struggling, why pruning isn’t punishment, and how to stop striving in our own strength so we can truly rest in Him.

If you’ve been feeling burnt out, dry, or exhausted by trying to do it all on your own, this message is going to be a huge encouragement for you. Join us this Sunday as we continue in our series "The Seven I Ams."

Life has a way of putting us in situations that feel impossible. Like Mary and Martha, we all face sickness, disappointment, delays, and unanswered questions. But in John 11, we are reminded that Jesus is never late - He is always working, even when we can’t see it. Jesus didn’t ignore their pain; He wept with them before He performed the miracle. That shows us He cares deeply about what we’re going through. And when He called Lazarus out of the grave, proved He has power over death itself.

So whatever you’re facing today, remember that Jesus is still the Resurrection and the Life. He brings hope into hopeless situations and can do what seems impossible. Trust Him, even when you don’t yet understand His timing.

In John 13 and 14, Jesus declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Before speaking these words, He humbly washed His disciples’ feet, revealing His servant’s heart and as the disciples struggled with fear and confusion, Jesus met them with hope. He reminded them that the way to the Father is not found through religion, rules, or good works but is found in Him alone.This message calls us to trust Jesus completely, follow His direction each day, and find confidence in the eternal life that only He can give. When life feels uncertain, Jesus remains our Way, our Truth, and our Life. Join us this Sunday as we continue in our series "The Seven I Ams."

In the late 19th century Thomas Edison forever changed the world with his invention of the lightbulb. Despite the availability of fire, candlelight, and streetlamps, Edison's invention provided a level of sight never before seen. Thanks to Edison, many of us can't imagine a world without constant access to light.

In John 8, Jesus tells us that he is the light of the world and that walking with him results not in darkness, but in light and life! Join us this Sunday as we continue in our series "The Seven I Ams."

Have you ever felt cast out, misunderstood, or forgotten? In our day and age, this is more common than any of us care to admit. This week, we will look at a passage in John and how Christ does something beautiful for the outcast... He goes and finds them. That’s the heart of our Good Shepherd: He pursues forsaken sheep, even when others turn their backs.

And in those moments, Jesus doesn’t just find us, He pays for us. Unlike a hired hand who may run at the first sign of danger, Jesus laid down His own life to purchase and provide for His sheep. The best part about this is that once you’re His, you’re protected. You are spoken for. You are held in His hand. No one and nothing can snatch you away. That’s a Shepherd worth following!
