CDC and USPSTF 2012 Screening Recommendations for Hepatitis C Virus Infection

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently issued new Hepatitis C virus (HCV) screening recommendations for all persons in the United States born between 1945 and 1965.  Almost at the same time, the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) issued its recommendation to screen adults at high risk for HCV. A commentary in the March of Gastroenterology takes an overview of these differing recommendations and offers take-home messages for readers.
