Pope Leo XIV welcomed the ceasefire news as a “sign of hope”, and renewed his call for a prayer vigil for peace at St. Peter’s Basilica this coming Saturday. An order of Catholic nuns has sued to block a New York transgender-rights law that mandates preferred pronoun usage. New 2027 guidelines by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will ban key federal abortion funding.
