Nadia Thompson, Program Director, for Black History Manitoba and Councillor Kevin Klein talk about the 40th Anniversary of Black History Month. Nadia talks about how she started working at Black History Manitoba. She also discusses how the importance of Black History Month was not taught well in schools in the past and they can do better now. Nadia and Kevin discuss how to know your own culture and to be proud of it. Nadia talks about the impact of the recent protests for Black Lives Matter. Nadia discusses the goals of Black History Manitoba and how the organization needs support all year and not just in February. Nadia talks about some of the events that Black History Manitoba will hold this year including awards ceremonies and the community banquet.
