I read a story about a man named Scott.  He was celebrating five years of sobriety.  Scott explained how in his darkest moment, an old friend returned to his life.  This friend shared how he had surrendered his life to Christ. Scott put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ himself, entered a treatment program and is now free from his addictions - for five years!

Years later Scott is now working with others who are struggling with addiction. He recently returned to his old friend to thank him.  “When you shared your faith with me we became brothers.  Now I share my faith and thank God for your words of love to me.”

Whether you have been through an addiction or not, you may know someone who is struggling.  I encourage you to pray for them.  Pray that God will bring people into their lives who can share a testimony of recovery.

“If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation.  The old is gone, the new has come.”  And that’s what a person with addictions needs desperately:  to know that if they receive Jesus Christ, not only are their sins forgiven, not only are they going to heaven, but they’re going to be liberated from their addictions and be free, free, free through Jesus Christ. So share your faith.  You may bless them forever.
